EDEMS
The Edems are one of the nine Tribes of Mortals created by the nine Clans of lesser Immortals in the final years of the Dawn War. The Ishims, the first of the Edem Clans, were created by the Erelims in the Astral Sea, the plane that connects all of the Supernal Harmony. The Dawn War came to an abrupt end with an event that came to be known as the Sundering, when the first mortal was killed on the soil of the Natural World.
The Primal Spirits of the Ethereal Sea, the plane that connects all of the Worlds of the Celestial Opposition and is sometimes referred to as the Spirit World, tore through the Celestial Echos wailing a furious dirge, and unleashing their wrath. Everything changed in that moment including the Edems who had been exiled to the Natural World, some became the first Nephilims, beings much more powerful than the Ishims they had been before. Others simply changed into something different than before, these were the first Humans, Hauflins, and Anakims. Eventually some of the Nephilims became so powerful they began demanding tributes and worship, and they changed yet again, becoming the first Shedims, God like beings, many of which now reside back in the Astral Sea. In there thirst for more power they sent their minions out to explore and spy on neighboring Echoes.
Humans, Hauflins, and Anakims sent to Hades, the Celestial Echo of Death and Destruction, also known as the Under World or Shadow Blight, became the creatures now known as Emites, Raphaims, and Amorites. Those who were sent to Arcadia, the Celestial Echo of Life and Creation, also known as the Other World or Dawn Wild, became the creatures now known as Houris, Yazatas, and Vorors.
Religion: Many Edems still worship the Divinities, the Creators of the beings who would eventually create their own creators. Though less popular, Ancestor worship is common among Edem Clans, leading to some of the more legendary ancestors ascending to godhood, becoming new Shedims. Some choose to worship any number of different things from the Primordials and Eternals to the Old Ones and even beings like the Sidhes, Rudras, or Titans.
Language: The Edem language is descended from Supernal, which itself descended from Divine, and all share the same scripted alphabet. Ishims and Nephilims often speak Edem, while Humans, Hauflins, and Anakims will typically speak Edem, or a Regional language. The other Clans of Edem tend to speak either as well.
Names: Edem sounds like a mix of Aryan, Greek, Celtic, and Semitic Languages, so names taken from those language groups are all appropriate. The Regional languages can be a mix of any number of other Language groups though, so names from them could be appropriate as well. Surnames can come from any number of sources, sometimes it could be your profession, or where you were born, or even parentage.
Adventurers: Edem adventurers come from all walks of life and for all sorts of reason, though boredom seems a strong motivating factor. Some may be looking for treasure, some glory, others just like the rush they get from being in danger. Edems are known for being somewhat unpredictable but typically loyal companions.
Relations: Some Edems are short lived compared to other races, but often vary wildly in their thoughts and desires. They tend to settle in places with abundant food supplies, but can be found in remote regions as well.
Ishim: They are a diverse people, but rarely create their own kingdoms, doing so in often remote locations, otherwise they prefer to live in loosely connected groups hidden among the other Edem Clans
Human: They can be incredibly diverse and unpredictable neighbors, often expansionists, either through aggression or even unintentional assimilation.
Hauflin: They are typically a peaceful neighbor, preferring nice quiet locations or to stay on the move, often they choose to live amongst the kingdoms of others.
Anakim: They are proud and often aggressive neighbors, often seizing any lands they feel are being unused for themselves.
Emite: They live for combat, which makes them dangerous neighbors, but often they form nomadic mercenary companies instead of actual kingdoms.
Raphaim: They tend to be reclusive neighbors more concerned with their own internal political intrigues than those of neighboring kingdoms.
Amorite: They prefer to live as nomads or in in small isolated communities in the wild, often shunning more civilized lands.
Houri: They like to make their homes in remote comfortable settings, which they will defend fiercely, but are otherwise a peaceful and ideal neighbor who enjoy exploring the lands of their neighbors.
Yazata: They are an intellectual, but often arrogant people constantly meddling into the affairs of others doing whatever they feel is right regardless of their wishes, individuals often living hidden amongst other Edem societies as spies.
Voror: They are a reclusive people, who prefer to build their kingdoms in harsh lands others might avoid, but who often send out their youths on pilgrimages of discovery, though often disguising their true nature.
