Luck Control

LUCK CONTROL (CONTROL)

Name Type Action Range Duration Resistance Base Cost
Luck Control Control Reaction Debate Instant - 2 per rank

You can add Advantage or Disadvantage equal to your Luck Control Rank as a reaction whenever anyone uses Destiny, Fate, or Luck (including any use of the Fortune or Misfortune die) within Debate range of you until the end of the turn. In addition you can use your Destiny, Fate, or Luck to affect others instead of just yourself as a reaction whenever anyone is about to make or has succeeded or failed a die roll within court range of you, or instead you can bestow your Destiny, Fate, or Luck on others as a free action.

You can also spend one of your Destiny, Fate, or Luck as a reaction to negate someone else’s use of a Destiny, Fate, or Luck within Debate range of you. You can also spend one of your Destiny, Fate, or Luck as a reaction to negate a Complication or Hubris activation (at the GM’s discretion). However, no Destiny is awarded when doing so.

Lastly, you can spend a Destiny, Fate, or Luck as a reaction to force someone else to reroll a die roll and take the worse of the two rolls using the Misfortune die, unless rerolling an Advantage or Disadvantage die. The target of this last effect may spend a Destiny, Fate, or Luck to avoid having to reroll.

EXTRAS
Area: Your Luck Control effect works equally on all targets in the affected area. You spend only one of your Destiny, Fate, or Luck, but the subjects are each affected individually. You must apply the same effect to all subjects at once. +1 cost per rank

Luck: Each rank in this extra gives you the benefit of a rank in the Luck Edge (see Luck in Edges). It is subject to the same limits as the Luck Edge set by the GM. Flat +1 point per rank of Luck

Selective: This extra, applied to Area Luck Control, allows you to choose who in the area is or is not affected by it. +1 cost per rank

FLAWS
Action: If the action required for Luck Control is increased beyond a reaction, it is only usable during your turn each round, which limits its usefulness in responding to the actions of others. –1 cost per rank

Ranged: Luck Control normally requires no attack check, if Ranged, it does, but also loses the limitations imposed by being Debate Range. –1 cost per rank

Resistible: Targets of your Luck Control get a resistance check—usually Dodge or Will—to avoid its effects. –1 cost per rank

Side Effect: As a particular side effect of Luck Control, if your effort to alter luck fails, you suffer a setback without earning Destiny. Effectively the GM gains a “free” complication against you. –1 or –2 cost per rank
