BUILDING A CHARACTER
THE SKILLS PAGE
To continue building your character you will want to go to the Tab titled Skills. Once on the Skills tab you can continue building your character. On this page you will find all the Skills, which include Skills and Proficiencies for more information, click on the link. Ranks of Skills cost 1 power point per 2 Ranks. Ranks of Proficiencies cost 1 power point per 4 Ranks. You can take a number of Ranks in a Skill or Proficiency equal to the Campaign Level x 2. Add the total number of Ranks you have in a Skill or Proficiency to any Skill Checks using that Skill or Proficiency. Any other Ranks or Negative Ranks in a Skill or Proficiency from Edges, Powers, Curses, or Equipment grant Advantage or Disadvantage to Skill Checks using them instead, equal to their total Ranks.
Heritage: The brown box in the closest column labeled Heritage next to each Skill is where you will enter any Heritage Ranks gained to that Skill. You can take up to 4 Heritage Ranks in a skill, these Ranks can allow you to exceed the normal limit of Campaign Level x 2, and are added to the total number of Ranks you have in a Skill to any Skill Checks using that Skill.
Edge: The green box in the column labeled Edge next to each Skill is where you will enter any Ranks gained to that Skill from Edges you may have. Ranks from Edges grant Advantage to Skill Checks using them instead of adding directly to the roll.
Power: The green box in the column labeled Power next to each Skill is where you will enter any Ranks gained to that Skill from Powers you may have, unless Limited. In those instances you add any Advantage as warranted. Ranks from Powers grant Advantage to Skill Checks using them instead of adding directly to the roll.
Curse: The green box in the column labeled Curse next to each Skill is where you will enter any Negative Ranks gained to that Skill from Curses you may have, unless Limited. In those instances you add any Disadvantage as warranted. Negative Ranks from Curses grant Disadvantage to Skill Checks using them instead of subtracting directly to the roll.
Equipment: The green box in the far column labeled Equipment next to each Skill is where you will enter any Ranks gained to that Skill from Equipment you may be using. Ranks from Equipment grant Advantage or Disadvantage to Skill Checks using them instead of adding directly to the roll. Gear is not the same as equipment, but is instead a Power, see above.
Power Source: The White box in the far column labeled Power Source next to each Skill is where you will enter a Power Source if this skill is your Primary Skill.
SKILLS
This section will go over the Skills available to your Character. Below are the Skills listed by corresponding Ability.
STRENGTH
Athletics: The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Athletics you want for the Character. Use for athleticism and fitness, like climbing, jumping, riding, and swimming.
Might: The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Might you want for the Character. Use for brute strength and might, like carrying, bending, lifting, and Sundering.
STAMINA
Concentration: The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Concentration you want for the Character. Use for pain tolerance and ignoring physical distractions, like minor wounds, heat, cold, and other external stimuli.
Endurance: The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Endurance you want for the Character. Use for stamina and ignoring fatigue, like being sleepy, holding your breath, fatigue from exertion, and the effects of thirst and starvation.
AGILITY
Acrobatics: The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Acrobatics you want for the Character. Use for acrobatics and flexibility, like balancing, tumbling, contorting, and gymnastics.
Dexterity: The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Dexterity you want for the Character. Use for manual dexterity and coordination, like throwing and catching, arming or disarming traps or locks, and basically anything that requires a steady hand or good eye hand coordination.
Reaction: The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Reaction you want for the Character. Use for reaction time and quickness, like catching something before it falls to the ground, timing a jump or movement just right, and reacting before someone else.
Stealth: The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Stealth you want for the Character. Use for stealth and chicanery, like hiding, sneaking, feinting, and pilfering.
INTELLECT
Guile: The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Guile you want for the Character. Use for guile and foresight, like thinking quickly and reacting to new challenges, planning and thinking ahead, predictions, and scheming.
Ingenuity: The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Ingenuity you want for the Character. Use for ingenuity and creative thinking, like solving puzzles or traps, figuring out how devices work, jury rigging repairs, and creative problem solving.
Investigation: The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Investigation you want for the Character. Use for investigating and research, like finding clues or hidden items, doing research on items, people, or places, gathering information, and noticing small details.
Recall: The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Recall you want for the Character. Use for recalling information and remembering events and details, like rumors or stories you've heard, recalling a key piece of information or critical detail, remembering someone's name, or specifics of culture like laws or customs.
WISDOM
Composure: The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Composure you want for the Character. Use for remaining calm and keeping your composure, like not getting angry, acting surprised, centering, and meditating.
Insight: The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Insight you want for the Character. Use for sensing motive and determining lies, like what someone is guarding, what things do they like, what do they hate, and why are they lying.
Perception: The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Perception you want for the Character. Use for perception and noticing things, like hearing, spotting, noticing a trap or secret door, and following tracks.
Survival: The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Survival you want for the Character. Use for survival and healing, like knowing what plants to eat, hunting, first aid, and building shelters.
CHARISMA
Deception: The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Deception you want for the Character. Use for bluffing and lying, like feints, seduction, deceiving a guard, and pretending you didn’t do anything.
Intuition: The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Intuition you want for the Character. Use for luck and intuition, like to see if you notice that rock before it hits you, getting a gut feeling, narrowly avoiding disaster, and noticing somethings not right.
Persuasion: The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Persuasion you want for the Character. Use for flattery and persuasion, like haggling, flirting, speaking in court, and making friends.
Presence: The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Presence you want for the Character. Use for bearing and presence, like leading a group, calming an animal, drawing people to you, and intimidating others.
PROFICIENCIES
This section will go over the Proficiencies available to your Character. Proficiencies are a type of Skill that represent more specialized training or knowledge. There are three types of Proficiencies, Trade, Lore, and Expertise. Trade Proficiencies can be used by anyone untrained, while Lore and Expertise Proficiencies require at least 1 Rank in that Proficiency to use them. Also unlike Skills, you often have the option to choose what Ability to link to a Proficiency. Below are the Proficiencies listed by type with Ability options listed in parentheses.
Type: The White box in the far column labeled Type next to each Profiency is where you will enter any Specialties for Trade Proficiencies, and where you will find Lore Type for Lore Proficiencies. This is also where you will enter an Expertise for Expertise Proficiencies.
TRADE
Artistry (Agility or Charisma): The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Artistry you want for the Character. Use for the creation of anything artistic or creative, like painting, sculpting, writing, or engraving. In addition, for every Rank in Artistry you gain an additional known specialty.
Build (Strength, Stamina, Intellect, or Wisdom): The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Build you want for the Character. Use for the creation of anything practical or functional, like smithing, carpentry, pottery, or masonry. In addition, for every Rank in Build you gain an additional known specialty.
Compete (Strength, Stamina, Intellect, or Wisdom): The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Compete you want for the Character. Use for actions while playing games or competing, like jousting, gambling, chess, or fencing. In addition, for every Rank in Compete you gain an additional known specialty.
Perform (Agility or Charisma): The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Perform you want for the Character. Use for actions while playing instruments or performing, like acting, violin, singing, or dancing. In addition, for every Rank in Perform you gain an additional known specialty.
LORE (Intellect or Wisdom)
Alchemy: The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Alchemy you want for the Character. You are educated in Alchemy and can answer both simple and complex questions about Alchemy, Science, Transmutations, and the Primordial Sea. You can also identify Draconic and Alchemical creatures, as well as their spoken and written language, Draconic, even if you can’t translate it.
Cosmology The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Cosmology you want for the Character. You are educated in Cosmology and can answer both simple and complex questions about Cosmology, Space, Boons, and the Celestial Harmony. You can also identify Celestial creatures, as well as their spoken and written language, Celestial, even if you can’t translate it.
Elements The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Elements you want for the Character. You are educated in Elements and can answer both simple and complex questions about Elements, Weather, Invocations, and the Elemental Tempest. You can also identify Elemental creatures, as well as their spoken and written language, Elemental, even if you can’t translate it.
Engineering The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Engineering you want for the Character. You are educated in Engineering and can answer both simple and complex questions about Engineering, Construction, Inovations, and Siege Warfare.
Fables The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Fables you want for the Character. You are educated in Fables and can answer both simple and complex questions about Fables, Stories, Evocations, and the Other World. You can also identify Sidereal and Inspirational creatures, as well as their spoken and written language, Sidereal, even if you can’t translate it.
History The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in History you want for the Character. You are educated in History and can answer both simple and complex questions about History, Fate, Destinies, and the Mirror World. You can also identify Inevitable and Fatalistic creatures, as well as their spoken and written language, Inevitable, even if you can’t translate it.
Linguistics The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Linguistics you want for the Character. You are educated in Linguistics and can answer both simple and complex questions about Linguistics, Order, Incantations, and the Nether World. You can also identify Gargant and Orderly creatures, as well as their spoken and written language, Gargant, even if you can’t translate it. In addition, for every Rank in Linguistics you gain an additional known language.
Mathematics The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Mathematics you want for the Character. You are educated in Mathematics and can answer both simple and complex questions about Mathematics, Chaos, Pacts, and the Else World. You can also identify Efreet and Chaotic creatures, as well as their spoken and written language, Efreeti, even if you can’t translate it.
Mysticism The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Mysticism you want for the Character. You are educated in Mysticism and can answer both simple and complex questions about Mysticism, Dreams, Mysteries, and the Dream World. You can also identify Somnium and Dreamy creatures, as well as their spoken and written language, Somnium, even if you can’t translate it.
Nature The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Nature you want for the Character. You are educated in Nature and can answer both simple and complex questions about Nature, Animals, Rites, and the Ethereal Sea. You can also identify Beasts, Plants, Lunael and Primal creatures, as well as their spoken and written language, Lunael, even if you can’t translate it.
Occult The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Occult you want for the Character. You are educated in Occult and can answer both simple and complex questions about Occult, Curses, Hexes, and the Under World. You can also identify Umbral and Shadowy creatures, as well as their spoken and written language, Umbral, even if you can’t translate it.
Philosophy The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Philosophy you want for the Character. You are educated in Philosophy and can answer both simple and complex questions about Philosophy, Psionics, Disciplines, and the Astral Sea. You can also identify Edem and Psionic creatures, as well as their spoken and written language, Edem, even if you can’t translate it.
Politics The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Politics you want for the Character. You are educated in Political Environments and can answer both simple and complex questions about Political Environments, Laws, Deeds, and the Noble Courts.
Religion The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Religion you want for the Character. You are educated in Religion and can answer both simple and complex questions about Religion, Gods, Prayers, and the Supernal Opposition. You can also identify Supernal creatures, as well as their spoken and written language, Supernal, even if you can’t translate it.
Tactics The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Tactics you want for the Character. You are educated in Tactics and can answer both simple and complex questions about Tactics, Strategy, Exploits, and General Warfare.
Urban The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in Urban you want for the Character. You are educated in Urban Environments and can answer both simple and complex questions about Urban Environments, City Folk, Gambles, and the Criminal Underworld.
EXPERTISE (Strength, Stamina, Agility, Intellect, Wisdom, or Charisma)
Varies The green box in the column labeled Ranks is where you will enter any Ranks in your chosen Expertise you want for the Character. Expertise can be used to create a Proficiency for any profession or knowledge you wish no matter how niche.
CONTACTS
For every Rank in a Trade or Expertise Proficiency you gain a Contact related to that Proficiency. Your total number of Contacts is called your Contact Score. These Contacts can be higher or lower level than you, but the total levels of your Contacts cannot exceed your Contact Score. Level 0 contacts count as 1/2 a level, while negative level Contacts subtract their level from the total levels of your Contacts.
